Myanmar has a complex and varied climate by region and season. It has three main seasons: Cool, hot and rainy

Upper Central, North and East: Fluctuation in temperature throughout the day

• February – May: High temperatures and intense sun in daytime, cooler in the evenings.
• June – October: Moderate rains, temperature is lower.
• November – February: Cool to very cold in higher altitude areas, average daily temperature can be around 15°C

The Dry Zone and Lower Central: More arid and dry

• February – May: High temperatures
• June – October: Moderate rains
• November – February: Ideal weather, cool temperature during the evenings

Rakhine State, The Delta and South

• February – May: High temperatures and humidity
• June – October: High humidity and intense rains, causing floods.
• November – February: Ideal weather, dry and sunny

Tourist e-Visa: only valid for a single entry

• Validity: Within 3 months from the date of issue.
• Duration: Stay for 28 days.
• Extension: Travelers cannot extend in order to stay for longer than 28 days

Visa Exemption

Tourists from the following countries can enter Myanmar without applying for a visa for a period of up to 30 days.

Tourists from the following countries can enter Myanmar without applying for a visa for a period of up to 14 days. 

• Brunei
• Cambodia
• Indonesia
• Laos
• Philippines
• Thailand (only if arriving by air)

Tourist Visa on Arrival

Tourists from China and India have been granted visas on arrival starting from 30.08.2023 as a one-year pilot project in accordance with COVID-19 rules and regulations of the Ministry of Health.

• Languague: Burmese, Shan, Karen, Rakhine, Chin, Kachin, Mon, Chinese, etc.
• Local SIM card:

  SIM cards are sold in the international airports, shops in the cities. In the official shops of the providers travelers need to show passport and visa (stamp)

  Main network operators: MPT, Telenor, Ooredoo, and Mytel.

• Electrical standards:

  For Myanmar there are four associated plug types: A, C, D, G and I

  • Plug type A has two flat parallel pins
  • Plug type C has two round pins
  • Plug type D has three round pins in a triangular pattern
  • Plug type G has three rectangular pins in a triangular pattern
  • Plug type I has three flat pins in a triangular pattern.

  Myanmar operates on a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz

  

Tipping is not compulsory indeed but tips for good services are highly appreciated.

– Guides:

• About $5 per day per person for a larger group (more than 4 people).
• About $10 per day per person for a smaller group (2-3 people).
• In some cases, an experienced guide can get a tip of $15 – 20 for the in-depth knowledge of the visit sites.

– Drivers: 

• Tour drivers: $3 – 5 per day
• Taxi drivers: 5 – 10% of the bill

– Hotels Staff

• Hotel housekeeping: $2 per day at a budget hotel and $3 – 5 per day at a luxury hotel.
• Hotel porter: $1 – 2 for someone helping out with your bags or $0.5 per bag

– Restaurants: Some deluxe restaurants will add a 10 – 15% service charge to the bill. However, if travelers feel satisfied with the great service, giving an additional tip of 10% of the bill will be respected.

Shopping at markets in Yangon, Mandalay, or Bagan involves bargaining and haggling for a better deal. The first price provided is rarely the genuine price, especially in highly touristic places.

Bargaining is not permitted in convenience stores or high-end shopping malls. Look around and talk with the guide to get an idea of what you intend to buy.

In Travel Advisory, Myanmar is still in level 4: Do not travel due to the civil crisis, armed warfare, and arbitrary local law enforcement. Travel to Burma should be reconsidered due to limited and/or poor healthcare and emergency medical supplies, as well as places contaminated by landmines and explosive ordnance. Due to incorrect detentions, exercise additional caution.

In light of the circumstances above, Apple Travel has decided to suspend all tours to Myanmar until further notice. This decision has been made to prioritize the safety and well-being of our travelers. We will continue monitoring the situation closely and resume tours to Myanmar once Myanmar officials deem safety advisories and assistance for travelers sufficient.
