Shopping at markets in Yangon, Mandalay, or Bagan involves bargaining and haggling for a better deal. The first price provided is rarely the genuine price, especially in highly touristic places.
Bargaining is not permitted in convenience stores or high-end shopping malls. Look around and talk with the guide to get an idea of what you intend to buy.

In Travel Advisory, Myanmar is still in level 4: Do not travel due to the civil crisis, armed warfare, and arbitrary local law enforcement. Travel to Burma should be reconsidered due to limited and/or poor healthcare and emergency medical supplies, as well as places contaminated by landmines and explosive ordnance. Due to incorrect detentions, exercise additional caution.
